Panda Keeper Program & Ancient Irrigation (UNESCO)
  • Morning: Panda Keeper Program (half-day) — feed pandas, clean enclosures, and assist with behavioural observation alongside sanctuary staff
  • Afternoon: Dujiangyan Irrigation System (UNESCO World Heritage Site) — 2,000-year-old hydraulic engineering still in use today
  • Taskbook entry: sketching and labelling the Dujiangyan system from observation

Fly to Guilin + Karst Geology Workshop
  • Morning: fly Chengdu → Guilin (approx. 1.5 hours)
  • Afternoon: Reed Flute Cave — guided karst geology workshop; stalactite and stalagmite formation, limestone solution processes
  • Evening: orientation along the Li River waterfront

  • Travel to Longji Rice Terraces — ecosystem workshop on altitude, microclimate, and sustainable agriculture

  • Overnight: Zhuang village homestay — family meals, local custom, community life

  • Afternoon: countryside cycling through rice paddies and rural villages surrounding Yangshuo
  • Evening debrief: comparing fluvial landscapes and human land use along the Li River corridor

Farm-to-Table Cooking Class & Adventure Activities
  • Morning: farm-to-table cooking class — visit market, select seasonal produce, cook Guilin dishes with local chef
  • Afternoon: student choice — rock climbing on Yangshuo karst cliffs or kayaking on the Yulong River
  • Evening: reflection journal — food systems, local ecology, and SDG connections

  • Morning: fly Guilin → Zhangjiajie; transfer to national park

  • Late afternoon: Golden Whip Stream hike — 7.5km trail through old-growth forest and towering sandstone pillars

  • Morning: Tianmen Mountain — world's longest cable car ascent; glass-floor sky walkway; Tianmen Cave (natural arch)
  • Afternoon: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge — longest and highest glass bridge globally; structural engineering discussion
  • Evening: final group reflection — landscapes, scale, and our relationship with the natural world
